Job description:

Overall Job Purpose:

The position exists to execute the drill and blast QA/QC program

Specific Job Responsibilities:

The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

Responsible to carrying out day-to-day blasting operations QA/QC activities that include dipping of holes, spotting of stemming equipment and MMUs to ensure quality on the blocks is adhered to.
Assist blasting technicians in entering QA/QC data into blast IQ system and ensuring that data entered is capture correctly.
Assist in working as blast guards during blasting time to ensure safe execution of blasting activities.
Encouraging teamwork, facilitating related professional work processes and resolve any escalated onsite issues to ensure that work is correctly prioritized and completed.
Monitor the explosive contractor and drilling contractor to ensure work quality is followed in executing day to day work.
To ensure that all work in all areas of activity is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating policies and procedures.
Responsible for ensuring that health and safety policies and procedures are followed.
Responsible for ensuring that QA/QC guidelines are followed on the drill and blast blocks.

Job Specific Competencies:

Be conversant with applicable Sleeving Methods.
Demonstrate working knowledge of Axis Electronics.
Must possess knowledge of working with Xplo loggers.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Accident / Incident Investigation expertise.
Excellent safety, people and performance management skills.

Experience required to perform in this job:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Mining Drill and Blast Environment.
Must have prior blasting experience.
Prior experience in an open pit setup is an added advantage .

Qualifications:

Full Grade 12 Certificate.
Electronic initiating systems certificate.
Blasting Licence.
Valid Zambian driver’s license is added advantage.
Computer Literacy is added advantage.
