Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI)

Korea Food for the Hungry International (hereinafter “KFHI”) is a non-profit organization established in 1989 as the first overseas aid international organization in South Korea. Our vision is to see people restored from physical, spiritual, social, and emotional poverty, instill hope in others.
Korea Food for the Hungry International Zambia (KFHIZ) is a branch of KFHI registered as an international non-government organization through the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services.
KFHIZ is currently looking for a suitable and qualified individual for the position of Agriculture and Livelihood Officer.

JOB SUMMARY

The Agriculture and Livelihood Officer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of KFHIZ Agriculture and Livelihood program. The officer will provide technical support in agriculture and livelihood activities including conservation agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, organic farming, and agribusiness. Additionally, the job holder will support capacity building initiatives targeted at partnered communities, schools, and small-scale farmers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Planning and Development
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and develop agriculture programs that address the needs of the target audience.
  2. Program Implementation and Coordination
    • Support effective planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of the agriculture and livestock activities to achieve the defined project objectives.
  3. Capacity Building
    • Organize training and professional development for program staff and small-scale farmers.
    • Provide agriculture training to pupils through the establishment of School Clubs.
    • Stay updated on agriculture innovations, trends, and best practices to inform program delivery.
    • Support the creation and strengthening of agriculture platforms for farmers to share lessons and success stories.
  4. Stakeholder Relationship Management
    • Build and sustain positive relationships with government line ministries, schools, small-scale farmers, and community members.
    • Participate in agriculture and resilience livelihood forums/meetings held at district and provincial level.
  5. Financial Oversight
    • Support the creation and management of program budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
    • Monitor expenditures to maintain quality and compliance with budgetary constraints.
  6. Reporting and Documentation
    • Prepare detailed reports on agriculture program activities, achievements, and challenges for stakeholders and management.
    • Maintain accurate, comprehensive records and documentation related to agriculture program activities.
  7. Other Tasks
    • Perform any other assigned task in relation to work on agriculture and resilience livelihoods.

Qualifications required:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field including Agriculture Economics, General Agriculture, Agriculture Agronomy, Animal Science, or Agribusiness, and at least 3 years of work experience in agriculture or livestock sector, preferably in an NGO.
  2. Demonstrable experience in building capacity of partners, communities, and staff on agriculture, livelihoods, and social accountability.
  3. Proven problem-solving skills and exceptional stakeholder relations with both internal and external parties including local or traditional leadership and community.
  4. Well-organized and self-directed individual with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, high ethical standards, and operational focus.
  5. Excellent communication and computer skills.
  6. A committed Christian member.
