Admissions and Communications Manager (Ref: ADMIN009)
Based in Lusaka, Zambia, Lusaka International Community School (LICS) is a co-educational, secular, fee-paying, non-profit school, which provides an internationally recognised education to a culturally diverse, globally-minded student body in a caring and supportive learning environment. LICS holds in high esteem its vision statement which is to “maximise the potential of future world citizens”.
LICS is a leading independent pre-primary, primary, and secondary school based in the leafy suburb of Roma in Lusaka, Zambia. It is also a member of CIS, AISA, and ISAZ.
The school is currently looking for a suitably qualified individual to join the LICS community as the Admissions and Communications Manager, effective 1st May 2025.
1. Requirements and Qualities
- More than 5 years of working experience in a similar role at the senior management level
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of effective customer care and management
- In-depth knowledge of admissions management or the equivalent discipline within a comparable service
- In-depth knowledge of best practices in marketing together with proven ability to establish and implement a robust marketing strategy
- Attention to detail, deadlines, and budgets; persistence in following through multiple extended projects
- Outstanding ‘people’ skills. Demonstrable ability to listen, build rapport, and communicate with people of different backgrounds
2. Qualifications and Experience
- BS Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent.
- MBA would be an added advantage
3. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
3.1 Admissions
Oversee pupil recruitment and create strategies to meet recruitment targets, managing all aspects of the admissions process to increase inquiries, visits, registrations, and enrolments, while maintaining strong retention levels by:
- Managing and streamlining admissions inquiries, ensuring efficiency and alignment with the school’s vision.
- Developing and implementing best practices for managing admissions and building relationships with families throughout the process.
- Regularly forecast and track admissions figures.
- Maintaining a database to capture and manage all inquiry-related information.
- Monitoring and reporting on all aspects of the admissions process, including inquiries, visits, registrations, and student retention.
- Analyzing the sources of admissions, including geographic data, for marketing insights.
- Ensuring overseas students meet immigration requirements and maintain necessary documentation.
3.2 Marketing
Develop and implement the school’s marketing strategy to enhance its image and reputation within the wider community by:
- Serving as the welcoming and professional point of contact for prospective families.
- Implementing marketing and communication activities to raise school awareness and generate inquiries.
- Developing community relations initiatives to enhance the school’s local profile and support enrollment goals.
- Achieving retention targets through an internal marketing program and ongoing community engagement.
- Ensuring consistent brand management across all marketing activities, aligning with the school’s values and objectives.
- Monitoring and assessing the advertising strategy, offering recommendations for future campaigns.
- Organizing annual events (e.g., open days, fairs) for prospective and current parents and the wider community.
3.3 Communications
Oversee and maintain ongoing communication and feedback with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring consistent, professional, and timely communication from the school.
- Develop and implement the school’s PR strategy, fostering relationships with key media across local, regional, national, and educational press.
- Ensure a continuous flow of engaging content showcasing the school’s activities in both digital and traditional media.
- Manage content, style, and design of the school website to ensure it meets the needs of target audiences.
- Keep the website up to date with regular, relevant content reflecting the school’s dynamic environment.
- Establish and manage an efficient feedback system for ongoing communication.
- Oversee the production of additional communication materials, branded items, and signage as needed.
