ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT – RECEIVABLES x 2

Position Description

This position reports to the Finance Manager. Successful candidate will be responsible for the below duties.

Responsibilities

  • Support the finance department in optimizing our financial transactions and systems specifically as it applies to Accounts Receivable
  • Capture all sales transactions in the system
  • Post customer payments by recording cash, cheques and credit card transactions
  • Verify validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, trade promotions, customer service departments, and from customers
  • Resolve valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries
  • Resolve invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures
  • Resolve collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line; coordinating contact with collections department
  • Summarize receivables by maintaining invoice accounts, coordinating monthly transfer to accounts receivable account, verifying totals and preparing report.
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly report including the age analysis
  • Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting
  • Comply with government financial requirements
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Finance Manager

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 certificate with Five credits (including Mathematics and English).
  • Bachelors in accounting, ACCA, ZICA with at least 3 to 4 years’ experience
  • Solid understanding of basic accounts principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations.
  • Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software (Sage Evolution Accounting package).
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
