Job Description
Overview:
As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and accounting functions within the organization. You will lead a team of accountants and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, you will contribute to strategic financial planning and decision-making processes to support the organization’s growth and profitability objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
– Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income, and cash flow statements.
– Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data by reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting records.
– Present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
– Develop annual budgets in collaboration with department heads and executive leadership.
– Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide explanations for deviations from planned targets.
– Prepare financial forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making processes.
3. Internal Controls and Compliance:
– Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
– Conduct periodic audits to assess internal controls’ effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
– Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations, implementing necessary updates to accounting policies and procedures.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
– Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and development.
– Delegate tasks effectively, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of accounting activities.
– Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and accountability within the accounting department.
5. Financial Analysis and Decision Support:
– Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks impacting the organization’s financial performance.
– Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
– Evaluate investment opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives, assessing their financial implications and risks.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
– Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, with a minimum of 5 in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
– Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
– Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
– Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
– Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
– Leadership qualities, including motivating and developing a high-performing team.
– Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
