Position Overview: As the Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial aspects of our stores with a keen emphasis on establishing and enhancing internal control procedures. Your primary focus will be on ensuring accurate financial transactions, preparing financial reports, analyzing data, and implementing robust internal controls to safeguard our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
2. Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial data.
3. Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and balance sheets.
4. Design and implement effective internal control procedures to prevent errors and fraud.
5. Conduct regular assessments of existing internal controls and recommend improvements as needed.
6. Generate financial reports and provide regular updates to management on the financial status of each store.
7. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure internal controls are consistently applied across all store locations.
8. Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, aligning them with internal control objectives.
9. Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
10. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, policies, and regulations, with a focus on internal controls.
11. Assist in the preparation of tax returns and audits, ensuring internal controls are well-documented and followed.
12. Provide financial insights and recommendations related to internal controls to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications & Other Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or Professional certification such as CA Zambia or ACCA is preferred.
2. Proven experience (Minimum 5 years) as an Accountant, preferably in a retail or chain store environment.
3. Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and standards.
4. Experience in designing and implementing internal control procedures.
5. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
8. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
9. Possession of a driving license older than 2 years will be an added advantage
