Position: Accountant
Fincred was founded in February 2019 in Zambia, with the vision of becoming a world class Microfinance Institution that provides low income financing to the marginalised communities in Sub-Sahara Africa. As a growing organisation, we are currently located in 2 provinces that are Copperbelt and Lusaka Province with plans of growing our footprint to other Provinces.
Scope
The Assistant Accountant main role is to capture all accounting transactions and provide all necessary financial information of the Business. This position is a support position that enables the Fincred Finance Team to achieve their results by providing necessary finance and administration support. The position reports to the Finance and Administration Manager and will be based in Kitwe.
Responsibilities
- The incumbent is responsible for the recording and capturing of all financial transactions and disbursements to ensure that all funds utilized by the Project are accounted for.
- Management of intercompany accounts, including postings, payments and Ledger Reconciliations.
- Prepare bank reconciliations to ensure that bank balances are in line with cash book balances.
- Conduct petty cash counts by carrying out spot checks on the custodian of petty cash.
- Filling all financial records to ensure easy access and for record keeping enabling easy referencing by the auditors and any external use required.
- Participate in Budget formulation and reviews.
- Establish/maintain employee records; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization and adherence to HR and Disciplinary policies, including compliance with statutory regulations;
- Prepare and submit accurate Weekly and Monthly Reports for the Management Committee
- Prepare any other reports that may be required from time to time.
- Prepare and maintain an accurate fixed asset register;
- Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures;
- Maintain accurate and complete register of invoices, agreements and all other supporting documents for each and every accounting entry.
- Monitoring of branch funding needs and all expenses management.
- Evaluate and implement appropriate payroll policies and payroll processes while assessing whether or not there’s a need for any systematic enhancements in order to increase the payroll efficiency.
- Timely preparation and submission of all statutory returns PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA;
Qualifications
- Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 credits including English and Mathematics
- A Degree in Accounting.
- CIMA / ACCA / CA Zambia or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role in the Private Sector.
- Member of Zambia Institute of Charted Accountants (ZICA).
- Strong command of Accounting standards and financial reporting.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
- Proficient knowledge in Payroll administration.
- Well versed in computerized accounting applications.
- Team player with excellent communication, analytical and report writing skills.
- Dynamic, self-driven and solutions oriented.
- Agile and willing to learn.
