Job Description


We are seeking a qualified accountant with expertise in the Sage 200 Evolution system to join our finance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing various end-to-end accounting processes, including general ledger management, accounts payable management, and accounts receivable management. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a thorough understanding of financial principles and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the Sage 200 Evolution system to manage all accounting processes efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Manage the accounts payable function, with a specific focus on supplier reconciliations.
  • Oversee accounts receivable activities, specifically focused on month end reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve financial queries and provide timely and accurate information.
  • Participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliation and journal entries.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and changes in accounting standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience working with the Sage 200 Evolution system is essential.
  • The ideal candidate will have or be working towards a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
  • Proven experience in managing general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, and particularly — Zambian tax principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient in using financial software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a finance team.
  • Familiarity with other accounting software and systems.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
