Tongabezi Trust School is an Independent School with over 280 children from Preschool to Grade 9. We offer high-quality education and co-curricular activities to vulnerable children within the rural community on the outskirts of Livingstone. The school follows the Zambian National Curriculum together with influences from overseas. We invite applications from qualified individuals for the following position:
Title: Fundraising and Communications Assistant
Location: Livingstone, Zambia
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Fundraising and Communications Assistant to join our team in September 2023. As part of the school, the ideal candidate will help to raise funds to support our mission and communicate effectively with donors, volunteers and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the fundraising team in planning and executing fundraising events, campaigns and activities
- Assist with the management of donor relationships, responding to enquiries and communicating updates to supporters
- Help to develop and produce fundraising materials, such as appeals, newsletters, brochures and online content
- Edit and proofread written materials to ensure accuracy and clarity
- Work closely with the broader team to ensure consistency, quality and impact of our communications
- Support the development of our social media presence and online fundraising platforms
- Assist with the planning and delivery of PR and media campaigns
- Prepare payment requisitions for Secondary and Tertiary Students with consultation and approval from the Fundraising Manager
- Ensure there is adequate external and internal documentation to substantiate payment requisitions being made
- Undertake any additional tasks as required to support the fundraising and communications team and other departments in the school
Required qualifications and experience:
- Diploma level education
- A Degree level education will be an added advantage.
- Experience in fundraising, communications or marketing
- Experience in Administration
- Experience with payment systems and internal controls.
- Computer literate in particular with MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Canva, and video editing apps
- Experience in managing social media

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- Strong graphic design and video editing skills
- Creative and proactive
- Experience in executing projects and delivering high-quality work
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Knowledge of fundraising and communication methods and techniques
- Excellent IT skills including experience using Microsoft Office and social media platforms
- A positive attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Willing and able to work outside normal working hours when the needs of the job require it
