ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT – RECEIVABLES x 2
Position Description
This position reports to the Finance Manager. Successful candidate will be responsible for the below duties.
Responsibilities
- Support the finance department in optimizing our financial transactions and systems specifically as it applies to Accounts Receivable
- Capture all sales transactions in the system
- Post customer payments by recording cash, cheques and credit card transactions
- Verify validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, trade promotions, customer service departments, and from customers
- Resolve valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries
- Resolve invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures
- Resolve collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line; coordinating contact with collections department
- Summarize receivables by maintaining invoice accounts, coordinating monthly transfer to accounts receivable account, verifying totals and preparing report.
- Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly report including the age analysis
- Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting
- Comply with government financial requirements
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the Finance Manager
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 certificate with Five credits (including Mathematics and English).
- Bachelors in accounting, ACCA, ZICA with at least 3 to 4 years’ experience
- Solid understanding of basic accounts principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations.
- Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software (Sage Evolution Accounting package).
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
- Proficiency in English and in MS Office
- Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
