Job Description

Social Welfare Facilitators (SWFs) will be seconded to the department of social welfare at the District level in the 4 pilot districts to support the implementation of the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) Nutrition 1000 Days initiative, under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS). The initiative focuses on providing cash-transfer assistance to vulnerable women who are pregnant or have children aged below two years and SWFs will support MCDSS to implement a “cash plus care” approach so that material deprivation is addressed together with other deprivations that the most vulnerable families face.

The professional practice of social work (the science of supporting the most vulnerable) points to the importance of supporting vulnerable mothers in a holistic manner – as a key part of any infant-focused-nutrition-based intervention. This project will contribute to the “care” element of the SCT Nutrition 1000 Days initiative.

Among the many tasks, SWFs will

Support implementation of community-case management to recipients of the SCT nutrition 1000-days
Support district social welfare officers to build the capacity of CDAs and CWAC members in community case management.
Work in collaboration with other MCDSS district-level staff to implement SCT 1000 days project.
Support district level MCDSS staff to ensure data quality.
Support DSWOs to provide regular mentorship and supportive supervision to CDAs.
Support CDAs to provide regular mentorship and coaching to CWACs
Support MCDSS district-level staff during District Level Planning and budgeting processes
Support the DSWO in putting in place logistical arrangements for District and Community level capacity building activities.
Support the DSWO and CDAs to hold regular coordination meetings.
