JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Survey Superintendent, you will be responsible for coordination and execution of daily survey activities in a safe, timely and cost-efficient manner. As the survey coordinator you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all survey activities.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness.   Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
  • Coordinate surveys and compute Weekly and End of Month (EOM) volumes and ensure that they are adequately reconciled, as well as timely resolve determined irregularities.
  • Ensure adherence to all statutory requirements and Company Safety, Health and Environmental standards and procedures. Develop annual Mine Plans for delivery to Mines and Safety Department (MSD).
  • Implement OrePro 3D system to minimize ore loss, dilution and materials misclassification in conjunction with the BMM system.
  • Coordinates and ensures that survey field activities are carried out in a timely manner to achieve production and cost targets in conjunction with the daily, weekly and monthly mining plans that correspond with the annual production targets.
  • Maintenance of survey computer directories and all records.
  • Coordinate and monitor usage and servicing of survey equipment as well as replacement of accessories. (Make sure all survey are in good working condition)
  • Effective management of the survey section human resource –for effective service delivery to the mine operations.
  • Monitor and coordinate delivery of survey junior staff BCBED assessments by the assessors on a weekly basis.
  • Coordinate and monitor usage of survey consumables to maintain and manage survey cost.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Degree in Geomatic Engineering or Diploma Mine Surveying
  • Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambian
  • A minimum of 10 years survey experience in the mining industry
  • Experience in large multi pit operations utilizing GPS equipment, 3D scanners, Total stations, data recorders arid associated surveying software like Vulcan, Arc view, Data mine or Surpac
  • Must have a valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Must be familiar with safe working practices.
