Job description:

Overall Job Purpose:

The holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

Additionally, to efficiently and effectively deliver complete and appropriate Planned Preventative Maintenance, Improvement, Breakdowns, and Fault Analysis on the responsible area. Overseer all task schedules on all relevant equipment, ensuring that administration in the areas of responsibility is up to date and accurate, contributing expertise and support.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Execute / Perform Maintenance tasks covering the area of responsibility with regards to Control & Instrumentation, including the following:

Installation / Maintenance and Configuring of field instruments – ensuring that both Company and Vendor Safety and Quality standards are adhered to, whilst ensuring minimum disruption to the Process Plant Operation or Production.
Performing Fault Analysis/Fault Finding in field instruments in operation and process in order to eliminate re-occurrences of repetitive faults and improve process, control, reliability and efficiency.
An understanding of the Network Drawings of the Processing Plant in relation to the Control & Instrumentation Systems and Equipment installed.
Plan, review and analyse preventive maintenance strategy for instrumentation equipment in order to achieve the highest efficiency of reliable and safe operation.
Monitor spare parts and inventory for instrumentation to ensure availability when required in order to minimize production interruption. Establish new inventory/ cataloguing where necessary. Update technical information in the inventory to ensure that the right quality and quantity is relevant for current operation.
Create inputs on PRONTO for Computerized Instrumentation Material and Maintenance Management System (CMMMS) to ensure data and history of equipment maintenance are captured accurately. Provide data (Instrumentation.
and Calibration) to maintenance planner with regards to instrument maintenance activities for his consolidation into Integrated Operation Plan (IOP).
Develop a plan, scope and lead the execution of shutdown works for instrumentation to ensure completion within the specified window.
Coordinate, maintain, improve and develop documentation, drawings (Networks, PLC Panels, CPL – Remote IO Panels and Junction Enclosures) and procedures for operations and calibration of field instrumentation.
Provide coaching, mentoring, training, supervise, assess performance and groom Local Junior Instrument Engineer on the local graduate development program (LDP), Instrument Supervisors and Instrumentation Technicians.
Adhere to the correct and safe usage of all Workshop Tools and PPE. Apply and Practice correct and Safe Working principles and standards during all Installation / Maintenance Tasks.
Be a Team player in the Control & Instrumentation Section and comply with all KML Health and Safety requirements.
Any other tasks as may be delegated upon by the Supervisor.

Job Specific Competencies:

Field Bus systems, specifically ProfiBus (DP & PA) and ModBus.
Siemens S7-range of PLC hardware installation and troubleshooting.
Exceptional skills in Field Instrumentation, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Experience required to perform in this job:

2-years post qualifying experience in Automated Industrial Processing Plants.
Experience in Profibus Networking / Fibre Optical Networking / Ethernet Networks – integrating with Siemens Control Systems.
Previous experience in variable-speed drives will be an advantage.

Qualifications:

Minimum Grade 12 / equivalent
Minimum of a Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation
Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
A valid Driver’s License for light vehicles
