Job Description
The Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC), situated about 100 km south of Lusaka, off Chirundu Road, is a regional training facility offering in-service training in Energy and related technical, and non-technical courses for Africa and beyond. The Centre, in addition, offers quality conference, accommodation and catering services.
Overall Purpose of the Job
To manage the development and delivery of projects and consultancy assignments at the Training Centre.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of the Training Centre, the Head – Projects and Consultancy will have the following responsibilities
- Steer corporate decisions on projects and consultancy activities.
- Establish and lead specific KGRTC Project Implementation Units in line with required quality assurance requirements.
- Develop terms of reference for projects, including preparing scheme designs and drawings, engineering specifications, equipment schedules and cost estimate reports.
- Carry out general supervision of works, including site inspections and snagging of construction and inspection works, to assess project implementation activities.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation of the performance of projects, including management of contractors.
- Provide support for procurement activities related to projects, including preparation of tenders and proposals, evaluation and liaison with relevant authorities for compliance requirements.
- Provide guidance on compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, best practice and relevant standards.
- Lead preparation of proposals to mobilize funding support for projects.
- Develop terms of reference for consultancy services and conduct individual or collaborative consultancy work.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation of the performance of projects and consultancy services.
- Develop and build internal and external contacts which may include identifying financiers, marketing of KGRTC business and soliciting for consultancy projects.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate must meet the following requirements;
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Masters Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering/ Energy Management or equivalent from a recognized University
- Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
- A qualification in Project Management will be an added advantage
- At least five (5) years work experience at senior management level in project management.
- Must be a self-starter
