Inshindo Foundation is a Baha’i inspired not-for profit development organization which has been operating in Zambia for the past 16 years. It is currently running three programs in Central, Copperbelt, Lusaka, North- Western and Southem provinces of Zambia. The programs include the Preparation for Social Action Program (PSA), the Community Schools Program (CSP) and the Community Agriculture Program (CAP). The Foundation seeks to raise “Promoters of Community Well-being”, individuals who become protagonists of their own development and that of their communities.

Inshindo Foundation seeks to recruit the following position:

 

 

Position Title: AGRICULTURIST (1)

Reports to: The Directorate-Inshindo Foundation

Location: Mwinilunga, North-Western, Zambia.

Position Summary

The Agriculturist will conduct research on sustainable organic agricultural methods and promote nutrition and food security at household and community level in collaboration with local agriculture teams, farmers and promoters raised through the Preparation for Social Action Program. The prospective candidate will contribute to the development of demonstration plots. community meetings on agriculture, promote backyard gardens and offer seminars and extension services to generate. apply and disseminate agricultural knowledge in the community. Administratively, the Agriculturist will be required to prepare quarterly reports and make presentations on findings from research work or projects. Documentation of this work will be cardinal in the day-to-day operations of this position. They will serve on local committees, work with like-minded organisations, government agencies and local leaders on issues related to agriculture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or in any other agricultural science-related field
  • A minimum of 3 years experience.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and team interactive skills
  • Medium to Small plot or nursery management experience
  • Ability to establish good interpersonal relationships and able to build strong relationships with stakeholders such as traditional leaders, local farmers, and Agriculture government departments.
  • Computer literate
  • Valid Motor Vehicle or Motorbike Zambian or SADC Driver’s License.
  • Fluency in Lunda or, prior participation in the Preparation for Social Action Program (PSA) at any level are an added advantage.
