Job Description
The purpose of this role is to maintain equipment to the required levels to attain required KPI’s in a safe, professional and timely manner, and also to train and mentor the national workforce.
The role – What are the main tasks and responsibilities of this job?
- To report all major defects to site Operations Manager;
- To fault find and repair equipment under contract to Epiroc standards;
- To ensure that all relevant documentation (work order, Operator/ Mechanical/ productivity checklists) is complete as per requirement;
- To maintain and service equipment at required schedules to Epiroc standards;
- To perform urgent repairs on equipment performing production work in a safe timely manner;
- To dismantle, repair, replace parts on equipment under commissioning stage;
- To perform daily inspections on equipment to identify faults and repair such faults and to report any operator damage to the Operations Manager;
- To ensure all tools, workshop equipment are used in the correct manner and kept in good safe working condition;
- To practice good housekeeping in work area and general workshop facility;
- Continuously development by taking up training courses on Competence Portal
- To perform shift work as required;
- To be available for afterhours call out;
- To perform other related work as required.
- To attend and participate in SHEQ talks at the start of the shift;
- To attend weekly and monthly SHEQ meetings;
- To wear correct PPE at all times;
- To ensure good housekeeping in the workshop;
- To report all incident/accidents to the immediate supervisor;
- Employees to protect their own health and safety;
- Employees to protect health and safety of others.
Competences, skills and experience – What critical competences, skills and experience is required for a candidate to be successful in this position?
- Technician / Craft certificate in H.E.R / or any related field;
- Minimum 5 years post trade of experience in surface mining or related industry drill rigs.
- Hydraulic systems knowledge
- High and Low stage compressor knowledge
- Knowledge of DML45 drill rigs desirable
- Valid driving permit
- Should have very good communication skill with the local employees.
