Job Description


Purpose of the role:
To develop and implement Department plans as aligned to Corporate Strategy, and to effectively and efficiently manage and coordinate all aspects of the Parts Departments for achievement of HCMZ business goals and objectives.

Reports to: Operations Manager/Import and Export Manager
Branch: Lusaka/Kitwe

Key Responsibilities:
The Parts Manager will be required to perform the following tasks:

Warehousing

  • To be focused on safe and efficient operations of the warehouse and Systems;
  • To promote lean warehousing principles;
  • To promote the culture of safety, quality & efficiency;
  • Identify area’s for continuous improvement;
  • Promote and ensure compliance to SPM ordering platform;
  • Identify areas of cost saving in process;
  • Ensure parts availabilities are met to customers (internal and external) as per category requirements;
  • Reduce on non-moving parts;
  • Manage all supervisors on all Operations sites.

Remanufacture

  • Ensure timely delivery of Reman Components and Cores are delivered to customers and retuned in Lusaka.

Finance, Risk and Compliance

  • Comply with work rules, standards and methods;
  • Take care to minimize waste;
  • Provide feedback on cost saving initiatives in area of control;
  • Ensure Lusaka Maintains all relevant ISO certification;
  • Ensure Lusaka Branch Maintains Bonded manufacturing status;
  • Ensure Bonded warehouse penalties are not incurred.

Customer Relations

  • Ensure queries are solved to the satisfaction of the Company/Customer;
  • Ensure surveys are undertaken on time;
  • Clients satisfied as per customer survey.

Procurement

  • Ensure logistical & procurement processes are aligned with business objectives;
  • Ensure procurement is performed at correct cost & quality;
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements & company policies and procedures;
  • Ensure transport is arranged according to customer requirements;
  • Ensure timely delivery to customer and notifying customer of progress of goods;
  • Ensure evaluation processes are conducted regularly;

People Management

  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are adhered to;
  • Ensure formal Performance Management is undertaken twice annually and performance objectives achieved by team members as set out in job profile/ performance agreement;
  • Ensure Recruitment process is adhered to in line with company procedures and policies;
  • Ensure orientation is done within 1 month of appointment in line with company procedures and policies;

Training

  • Coach national staff on 6 steps of work management (identify, plan, schedule, execute, complete and review)
  • Coach Parts Staff on effective parts operation in liaison with Reman Requirements.
  • Set Personal Development Plans for the team annually;
  • Submit the training needs of the team within a specified time frame;
  • Ensure coaching and counseling is conducted to meet individual needs;
  • Ensure training is delivered, impact measured and evaluated.

Safety

  • Ensure safety standards are adhered to;
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow safety regulations;
  • Promote the culture of safety, quality & efficiency;
  • Participate in safety meetings.
  • Daily assessments performed to ensure good housekeeping
  • Work hand in hand with the Safety coordinator to ensure all incidents in the Section are reported, remedial measures enforced and appropriate safety training conducted;
  • Ensure employees wear correct PPE at all times and ensure they adhere to the policy.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a full Grade 12 certificate
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing and Supply or any related field.
  • Minimum experience of 5 years in a Mining Equipment Industry.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Full Member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply or other relevant Professional Associations.
