Job Description
Shift Foremen
Overall Job Purpose
Manage and supervise the effective execution of all production activities during respective shift to ensure seamless and efficient operations within the Production department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in the execution of SZL’s production plan.
- Ensure all production equipment are operated in accordance with standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Monitor control process units at every point in time.
- Supervise casual staff to ensure all conveyor belts in the unit are clean and free from jamming.
- Ensure plant operators wear appropriate safety gears during operations.
- Coordinate all production staff during respective shift to ensure uninterrupted activities at the plant.
- Prepare detailed shift reports for the attention of the HOD.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the HOD
Key Requirements
- Diploma in Chemical/Chemistry/Metallurgy or its equivalent
- At least five (5) years’ work experience in metallurgical work
- Member of Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)

- Material quality analysis – on strengths/weaknesses of materials
- Skills in material mix and chemistry
- Monitoring, controlling and assessing performance
- Analytical and critical thinking
- Problem solving and decision making
- Coordination and collaboration skills
- Supervisory/managerial skills
