PENSIONS AND INSURANCE AUTHORITY

JOB ADVERTISEMENT (RE-ADVERTISED)

The Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA) is the regulatory and supervisory authority for the pensions and Insurance Industry in Zambia as provided for in the Pensions Scheme Regulations Act No. 28 of 1996 (as amended) and the Insurance Act No. 27 of 1997 (as amended). The Authority is empowered under section 5 of the Pensions Scheme Regulations Act No. 28 of 1996 (as amended) to formulate standards in the conduct of Insurance and Pensions business. The Authority supervises and regulates entities operating in the pensions and insurance market. These include, among others; insurance companies, reinsurance companies, insurance intermediaries, pension schemes, fund managers and fund administrators.

The Authority hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following position;

 

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR – One (1) Position

Overall Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager – ICT. The System Administrator provides information technology services to the Authority.

The position holder will be responsible for the Pensions and Insurance Authority management applications, data and systems. Ensuring correct configuration, proactive monitoring, and problem resolution, providing advice and guidance and ensuring business continuity. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role.

Specific Duties

Administering web hosting and multi-server development
environments.
Developing websites and applications, updating content.
Domain admin, LAN/WAN, Infrastructure, Application administration, and fault troubleshooting.
Install. Configure and Manage Email server
Ensuring database security, integrity, scalability and system availability.
Implementing and managing BDR solution.
Manage access control, firewalls, IDS/IPS, CCTV, Telephony • Offer support to Authority internal and external clients in resolving ICT challenges.

Requirements

Grade 12 certificate with credit or better in Mathematics and
English
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information
Technology or related discipline.
At least 3 years post qualification experience.
Member of ICTAZ.
Desired – Professional Certifications in Programming, UNIX or Information Security.
Skills and Competences:

Competent is UNIX and windows domain administration;
Strong knowledge of setting up and administering LAN/WAN;
Able to communicate clearly in both written and verbal
English;
Competent in Email Server admin – Exchange, PostFix,
Sendmail
Proficient in programming – Python, Net Framework,
JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP;
Excellent in Virtualisation using one of; VmWare, IBM PowerVM and
Resourcefulness and problem solving aptitude.
