EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – CREDIT MANAGER

Great North Credit Limited (GNC) is an ambitious micro finance Institution (MFI) licensed by Bank of Zambia (BOZ). GNC hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and professionally experienced candidates for the position of Credit Manager. The ideal candidate must have strong commercial and business acumen from the Banking and MFI environment. The successful candidate will be reporting to Chief Executive Officer and will be based in Lusaka.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all credit activities within the Country. This responsibility includes achieving all portfolio targets , working directly with Credit team at his disposal.

  • Working in collaboration with the Sales and Finance Managers, within the Company and supporting the CEO with Credit management activities.
  • Develop the Credit committee papers for loan approvals, Terms of Reference (ToRs) and ensure compliance to the ToRs by all members
  • Develop credit management processes, policies, and procedures and to set-up, supervise and coordinate the work of Collections and Recoveries. Review, appraise and ensure correct and timely approval of all loan requests in accordance with Company approval limits.
  • Periodic review of GNC’s credit processes and making recommendations to Management for the purposes of correcting any inadequacies.
  • Conducts follow ups and review lending processes to ascertain level of compliance to regulatory credit policies and procedures by existing clients to which the loans have been disbursed
  • Timely compile disbursement schedules for approved loans and submit with title deeds to Company Secretary for lodgement and perfection of loan security.
  • Verify the quality of collateral pledged as loan security and review the loan field analysis conducted by the loan officers
  • Devise collection and recovery strategies to meet roll-rate goals, reduce charge off and maximize net recoveries
  • Review and ensure adequate collections performance & cost reports in place and prepared in a timely manner, to facilitate performance management of the collections department
  • Management of Credit OPEX budget with proven ROI

PROCESS COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure proper performance of compliance checks on Credit policies and processes
  • Management of the Credit aspect in all Audits and ensure closure of all audit queries raised and observations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all reports are submitted to management and key stakeholders with accuracy and before deadlines
  • Ensure escalation of risk issues through the laid down escalation hierarchy
  • Monitoring of all risk reports to identify irregularities/excesses to ensure that immediate actions are in place
  • Accountable for satisfactory closure of issues/gaps arising from internal Audits, Business risk reviews, Peer reviews, third party agency audits and regulatory reviews
  • Ensure processes/policies are updated on a regular basis and adherence of the same

TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Management of Credit Team staff Train, guide sales & credit personnel on credit assessment, monitoring and recoveries, Set, monitor and assess credit team performance targets
  • Provide input into sales targets
  • Have frequent field visits to understand customer segments, sales operations and drivers of portfolio performance

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Support GNC in delivering a superior customer experience across all GNC service delivery channels.
  • Ensures that the process of customer acquisition and service delivery across all branches and other service points is anchored on delivering a consistently superior customer experience.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or relevant professional qualification in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration or Banking.
  • Minimum 5 O’level Credits or better including Mathematics & English
  • A sound knowledge of Micro Finance and principles and practices of banking
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with managerial experience preferably in a microfinance or a financial institution.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication & negotiation skills.
  • Leadership, management, organizational and people management skills.
