COOPERATIVE MANAGER

Ubuntu Wealth Creation Savings and Credit Co-operative Society Limited (Ubuntu SACCO) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Cooperative Manager.

Ubuntu SACCO is a member-owned savings and credit cooperative committed to promoting financial empowerment and sustainable wealth creation among its members. The Cooperative seeks to recruit a results-oriented, highly responsible and dynamic individual to provide overall leadership and management of its day-to-day operations.

Job Purpose

The Cooperative Manager will be responsible for the overall day-to-day management of Ubuntu SACCO, ensuring sound financial management, effective credit administration, quality member services, regulatory compliance and sustainable growth. The Manager will also be responsible for implementing Board decisions, approved policies, budgets and operational plans.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Cooperative.
• Oversee financial management, cash flow, banking and financial reporting.
• Oversee credit administration, loan portfolio performance, repayments and recovery of delinquent loans.
• Implement Board decisions, policies, approved plans and budgets.
• Drive membership growth, retention, member engagement and business development.
• Ensure compliance with the Cooperative’s Constitution, By-laws, policies and applicable statutory requirements.
• Supervise staff and coordinate service providers to ensure efficient operations.
• Ensure effective use of digital and management systems and proper maintenance of member and financial records.
• Manage key financial, credit, operational and compliance risks.
• Prepare timely financial, operational and performance reports for the Board.
• Maintain effective relationships with members, financial institutions, auditors, legal counsel and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Banking, Cooperative Management or a related field.
• Relevant professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
• At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a SACCO, cooperative, financial institution, microfinance organization or similar member-based organization.
• Demonstrated experience in financial management, credit management, administration and staff supervision.
• Good understanding of governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• High levels of integrity, accountability and confidentiality.
