POSITION: Packaging Team Leader – Lusaka & Kitwe

About the Role

National Breweries PLC is seeking a highly motivated, safety-conscious and results-oriented Packaging Team Leader to lead packaging operations, drive operational excellence, and achieve production, quality, cost and safety targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead packaging operational teams to achieve production performance targets.
  • Coordinate and execute production plans and monitor line performance.
  • Monitor machine efficiency, downtime, losses and stock reconciliation.
  • Drive continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
  • Promote compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards.
  • Facilitate team meetings, employee development and performance management.
  • Ensure proper administration and reporting systems are maintained.
  • Build and maintain positive industrial relations and teamwork.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 2–3 years relevant experience in a beverage, packaging, FMCG or manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • Good interpersonal skills and team player.
  • Effective communicator, sober minded, hardworking and possessing problem-solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of packaging processes and operations within a beverage or FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of packaging equipment including fillers, cappers, labellers and associated utilities.
  • Ability to monitor production performance using FE, ME, downtime and loss KPIs.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, Food Safety, Quality Standards and HACCP requirements.
  • Knowledge of autonomous maintenance principles and equipment defect escalation.
  • Understanding of safety management systems, hazard identification, risk assessment and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Ability to interpret production plans, SOPs and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis using 5 Whys and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage.
  • Strong planning, coordination, leadership and communication skills.
