DIRECTORATE/DEPARTMENT PURPOSE:
The Department is responsible for managing the company’s external and internal communications, build and protect its reputation, and ensure that it maintains positive relationships with various stakeholders. By effectively managing these functions, the department contributes to the organization’s success, sustainability, and responsible corporate citizenship. It also provides oversight to the ZCCM-IH subsidiaries’ corporate Affairs aspects.
JOB PURPOSE
The International Relations Officer reports to the Corporate Affairs Manager and is responsible for managing and coordinating the Company’s international engagement and investor-facing activities. The role serves as the focal point for international stakeholders and supports the consistent, professional representation of the Company across international platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- StakeholderEngagement and Correspondence
Serve as the focal point for the Company’s engagement with international shareholders, investors, partners and multilateral stakeholders, managing correspondence and follow-up arising from such engagement. - Visits, Missions and Meetings
Plan, coordinate and facilitate inbound and outbound visits, missions and meetings involving international stakeholders, including logistics, itineraries, briefing materials and protocol arrangements. - Investor-Facing Communications
Prepare and review investor-facing communications and publicity materials — including briefing notes, presentations, talking points and background packs — to a standard suitable for an international investor audience. - Positioning and Messaging
Support the Company’s positioning and messaging across international platforms, liaising internally to ensure consistency of information shared externally. - Monitoring and Intelligence
Monitor developments relevant to the Company’s investees, sector and listing environment, and provide timely intelligence to inform engagement and communications. - External Relationship Management
Build and maintain relationships with relevant external bodies, including diplomatic missions, investment promotion agencies, exchanges and international media, as required. - General Support
Provide general support to the Investor Relations and Governance Officer, and undertake any related duties assigned by the Corporate Affairs Manager.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Minimum level of academic qualifications required to perform effectively in the role
Grade Twelve or Equivalent with Credits or Better in Five Subjects, Mathematics and English Included.
Bachelor’s degree in international relations, Business Administration, Finance, Communications, Media, Journalism or a related field.
Minimum level of professional qualification required to perform effectively in the role
Certificate in Diplomacy, Protocol and Public Relations is required
Skills and competencies
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce polished materials for an international investor audience under time pressure.
Excellent organisational and logistics-coordination skills, particularly for multi-party visits and missions across time zones.
Sound judgement and discretion in handling sensitive investor and stakeholder correspondence.
Strong relationship-management skills across a diverse range of external counterparts — investors, diplomatic missions, exchanges and media.
Ability to work in collaboration with the Investor Relations and Governance Officer while managing an independent workload.
High attention to detail and consistency, given the need to align the role’s outputs with the Company’s broader Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs messaging.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Minimum number of months or years of experience the jobholder is required to have to be appointed to the position
Minimum of Four (4) years’ experience in investor relations, corporate affairs, strategic communications, international liaison or a comparable stakeholder-facing role
Experience working with or in the mining/energy sector is an added advantage.
Fluency in English required.
