HOTEL ASSISTANT FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Garden Court Kitwe Hotel is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) whose mandate is to provide Hospitality Services to guests in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. POSITION

HOTEL ASSISTANT FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

To support the Financial Controller in overseeing the financial operations of the hotel. This position plays a key role in ensuring financial compliance, providing accurate financial reporting and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in hotel finance and accounting, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Preparing monthly/annual reports, budgets and forecasts, monitor financial performance and analyse variances.

• Coordinate month end closing, prepare all required journal entries, perform analytical reviews of Financial Statements and explain any variances from Budget.

• Coordinate the reconciliation of the monthly balance sheet.

Operational Support

• Supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Daily Banking.

• Review daily revenue performance and ensure proper revenue recognition.

• Act as a liaison between the company and relevant third parties.

• Oversee Food & Beverage cost controls by reviewing consumption versus sales reports.

• Payroll preparation.

• Maintain the hotel’s fixed asset register and assist with Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) tracking.

Compliance & Control

• Ensure adherence to all company policies, financial regulations, and internal controls.

• Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions are executed.

• Prepare and Submit Statutory Returns.

• Ensure adherence and compliance to all legislation where due diligence requirements and best practice activities are planned, delivered and documented for internal and external audit performing.

Team Leadership

• Supervise finance staff, provide training, and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.

Profit Maximization

• Partner with hotel’s departments to identify cost savings and revenue opportunities, supporting owners’ return of investments.

Systems & Accuracy

• Maintain data integrity in financial systems, ensuring precision in all transactions and ensure that they are closed and audited in a timely manner.

Hospitality Focus

• Deliver exceptional guest service, maintain brand standards and act as a trusted financial advisor.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy / ZiCA / ACCA / CiMA.

• Paid up Membership to the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZiCA).

Zambia business directory

• Proficiency in hotel property management systems (PMS), SAGE accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel.

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in hotel accounting or corporate finance in a senior role.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

• Proficiency with financial software (Asset Management).

• Experience in preparation of Financial Statements and / or consolidations will be an added advantage.

• Leadership potential and a detail-oriented mindset.
