Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and experienced professionals to fill following academic and clinical positions in the School of Medicine and Clinical Sciences. All positions are on a full-time basis.

14. LECTURER – BIOCHEMISTRY
Job Purpose:
To provide effective teaching, research, and community engagement in Biochemistry. The role focuses on delivering core biochemical knowledge that underpins medical and health sciences education and contributes to curriculum development and scientific research.

Key responsibilities:
Deliver lectures, tutorials, and laboratory practicals in Biochemistry.

Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research projects where applicable.

Participate in the development, review, and implementation of Biochemistry curricula.

Conduct scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

Contribute to departmental, school, and institutional academic activities.

Participate in community engagement and professional outreach related to Biochemistry.

Complete a recognised medical education or teaching methodology programme within two years of employment.

Qualifications and experience:
Grade 12 Certificate with five credits including English, Mathematics, and Science

Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Medicine or a relevant biomedical science discipline, or completion of a recognised Specialty Training Programme (STP-ZACOMS) or equivalent. A PhD is an added advantage.

Relevant first degree from a recognised institution.

Valid practising licence and registration with the relevant professional regulatory body, where applicable.

Demonstrated teaching experience at tertiary level.

Evidence of research activity and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Strong communication, mentorship, and teamwork skills.

Key competencies:
Strong subject matter knowledge in Biochemistry.

Ability to effectively teach both theoretical and laboratory-based courses.

Research capability with demonstrable scholarly output.

Student supervision, mentoring, and academic advising skills.

Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively within an academic environment.

Computer literacy, including use of learning management systems and office applications.
