1. Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
– Ensure that all safety rules and procedures are always observed to safeguard yourself, your colleagues, and the company property.
– Comply with the Electrical statutory regulations (MSD) with regards to HV switching and general handling of electrical apparatus.
– Ensure plant availability by attending to breakdowns on time
– Perform general electrical maintenance
– Conduct predictive and annual maintenance of High voltage power transformers, circuit breakers and their auxiliary circuits.
– Installation/ modification of new or existing electrical power and control systems
– Read technical diagrams and blueprints
– Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to ascertain the cause of failure
– Carry out daily and weekly preventive maintenance and rectify or report defects.
– Maintain good housekeeping in substations and all electrical equipment
– Always follow correct positive isolation and lockout procedures
– System monitoring and meter reading of power consumption from the SCADA system in the substation.
– Repair all portable and fixed defective electrical equipment in the plant.
– Should be able to interpret basic ABB, VSD and Siemens PLC fault code alarms.
– Wiring neat industrial direct-ON Line, star-delta starters, and domestic circuits.
– Complete/ close weekly work orders and report to the supervisor at the end of each shift.
1. Qualification Requirements:
– A minimum of a Crafts certificate in Electrical Engineering and / or related relevant field.
– Minimum 2 years’ work experience as an electrician in a reputable and busy environment.
– A Certified Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
– Valid Silicosis certificate
