Job Description
We are a reputable boys and girls boarding school dedicated to academic excellence and the holistic development of our students. We are seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to fill the role of Maintenance Officer who can also teach Metal Work as part of the Design & Technology curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Maintenance Officer:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on school facilities and equipment, ensuring a safe and functional environment for students and staff.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
Conduct regular inspections of buildings, electrical systems, plumbing, and mechanical systems to identify issues and recommend solutions.
Supervise and coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or projects.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, tools, and equipment inventory.
As a Metal Work Teacher:
Plan and deliver engaging Metal Work lessons as a component of the Design & Technology subject.
Demonstrate practical skills in metal fabrication, welding, and other related techniques to students.
Assess and evaluate student performance through projects, assignments, and practical exams.
Promote creativity, safety, and teamwork in the workshop environment.
Maintain and manage workshop tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring safety standards are upheld.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Proven experience in building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or general repairs.
Minimum of Craft Certificate in a relevant the field. An additional teaching qualification or relevant experience in teaching Metal Work or Design & Technology is an advantage.
Proficiency in metalworking techniques such as welding, cutting, and fabrication.
Strong understanding of safety protocols in both maintenance and workshop environments.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and multitasking.
