Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Teacher Aide will assist the nursery class teacher in providing a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment for young children. The aide will support daily classroom activities, ensure the children’s well-being, and foster their social, emotional, and intellectual development.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
- Assist the teacher in preparing and organizing learning materials and resources.
- Help set up and clean-up activities, ensuring the classroom is orderly and safe.
- Supervise children during playtime, meals, and rest periods.
Childcare Duties:
- Support children in personal care activities, including toileting, handwashing, and dressing.
- Monitor and ensure children’s safety and well-being at all times.
Teaching Support:
- Assist in conducting group activities, such as storytelling, arts and crafts, and music sessions.
- Work one-on-one with children needing additional support.
Behavior Management:
- Promote positive behavior by reinforcing good manners, sharing, and cooperation.
- Help resolve minor conflicts among children calmly and effectively.
Communication:
- Maintain open communication with the teacher regarding children’s progress and any observed concerns.
- Provide feedback on classroom activities and suggest improvements where necessary.
Other Duties:
- Accompany children on field trips or outdoor activities.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the teacher or school administration.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements
- Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Diploma in Early Childhood Education. A degree in early childhood will be an added advantage.
- Experience:
At least 3 years of experience working with young children in a nursery or similar setting (preferred).
Skills:
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Creativity to engage children in fun and educational activities.
- Basic knowledge of first aid (preferred).
Other Requirements:
- A clean background check.
- Ability to handle a class will be an added advantage.
