Job Description


Job Purpose

The Logistics and Fleet Coordinator is responsible for managing the company’s fleet operations, ensuring timely and efficient logistics while maintaining the mechanical integrity of the vehicles. This role combines logistical planning with hands-on mechanical expertise to ensure that the fleet is well-maintained, safe, and operates at peak efficiency. The Coordinator will work closely with drivers, mechanics, and the logistics team to ensure seamless operations and effective problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and manage all logistics operations, including vehicle routing, scheduling, and dispatching.
  2. Monitor and track the performance of the fleet to ensure timely delivery and transportation of goods.
  3. Track and monitor truck movements, ensure adherence to assigned routes, and document any route deviations.
  4. Oversee routine maintenance and repair of vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  5. Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues and ensure they are addressed promptly.
  6. Collaborate with the maintenance team to diagnose and resolve mechanical problems, minimising downtime.
  7. Manage fuel usage, vehicle mileage, and maintenance costs to optimise fleet efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  8. Ensure all vehicles are properly licensed, insured, and meet regulatory compliance requirements.
  9. Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, inspections, and driver logs.
  10. Develop and implement fleet management strategies to improve performance and reduce expenses.
  11. Train drivers on safe driving practices, basic vehicle maintenance, and company policies.
  12. Coordinate with external service providers for specialised repairs and maintenance as needed.
  13. Respond to and manage any emergencies, breakdowns, or accidents involving company vehicles.
  14. Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of drivers and other logistics personnel.

Qualifications

  1. Diploma or degree in Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field.
  2. Proven experience in fleet management, logistics, and vehicle maintenance.
  3. Strong mechanical knowledge and experience with vehicle repair and maintenance.
  4. Proficiency in logistics management software and tools.
  5. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  7. Strong communication and organisational skills.
  8. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
