Job Description
Role Overview:
Heavy Equipment Repair coordinator provides leadership and direction to the maintenance staff. This work involves the operation, servicing and repair of heavy duty equipment. It also involves planning and supervising the activities of employees engaged in the Operation and repair of heavy equipment such as tractors, backhoes, loaders, forklifts and cranes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To repair and maintain Loaders, cranes, forklifts, Tractors, excavator, Tipper trucks and light vehicles
- Coordinates all activities in the Garage workshop & assign work to shop mechanics/Artisans
- Schedules equipment repairs to minimize impact on productivity
- Assure compliance with scheduled maintenance PM of equipment and manage work flow
- Assembles reports on the suitability, reliability, availability and operating costs of various models of equipment
- Performs administrative duties such as keeping time sheets, maintaining daily equipment logs and
- Ensures service kits and spares are available to manage flirt under His/her
- Ensures that the maintenance shop, bays, Tools, Storage containers and yard are properly maintained, organized, functional safe and clean
- Effectively trains and develops the maintenance team to achieve and maintain a high standard
- Must implement the safety program goals to ensure a safety work environment by conducting safety observations, tool box talks, meetings and audits
- Maintains comprehensive records for each item of equipment with respect to down time
- Trouble shoot diagnose and repair equipment
Preferred candidate qualifications & experience
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Craft Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair
- A minimum proven work experience of 10years in Heavy Equipment Repair
- Driver’s license
- Must be knowledgeable of OSHA and general safety requirements of heavy equipment shops
- Must have good communication skills and strong teamwork verbal and written skills
- Must have hands on experience leading and managing a heavy equipment maintenance shop
