Job Summary:
The motorbike rider will be responsible for the timely collection and delivery of medical samples, reports, and other related documents between healthcare facilities, clients, and the laboratory. The role requires a reliable, professional, and safety-conscious individual who is familiar with Ndola and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Sample Collection and Delivery:
Safely collect medical samples (e.g., blood, urine, etc.) from healthcare facilities, clinics, and clients.
Deliver collected samples to the laboratory in a timely manner to ensure they remain viable for testing.
Transport laboratory reports, supplies, and documents between the lab and healthcare providers.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of collections and deliveries.
Ensure all documents, such as delivery notes and receipt confirmations, are signed and properly filed.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Regularly inspect and maintain the motorbike to ensure it is in good working condition.
Report any mechanical issues or required repairs promptly.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all road safety regulations and traffic laws.
Follow protocols for safe handling and transportation of medical samples.
Wear appropriate protective gear, including a helmet, at all times while riding.
Customer Service:
Interact professionally and courteously with clients and healthcare providers.
Provide clear and concise communication regarding delivery times and any delays.
Time Management:
Plan routes effectively to optimize delivery schedules and minimize delays.
Ensure timely pick-up and delivery according to the lab’s operational requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum Education: Grade 12 Certificate.
Valid Driver’s License: A motorbike rider’s license (Class A).
Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a medical or courier environment.
Knowledge of Ndola: Familiarity with the local area and surrounding regions.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Bemba.
Good Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
Attention to Detail: Careful handling of medical samples and accurate record-keeping.
Professionalism: Courteous, reliable, and punctual.
Additional Requirements:
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends if needed.
Strong knowledge of road safety rules.
Basic knowledge of medical sample handling (training will be provided).
