Location: Kitwe
The Systems Engineer (IT Infrastructure) is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining client’s IT infrastructure. This includes servers, network systems, storage solutions, virtualization and other related technologies. The role involves ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of the IT infrastructure to support the organization’s business operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Design and Implementation:
Design and implement server architecture, network infrastructure, and storage solutions.
Deploy and configure hardware and software components to meet business needs.
2. System Administration:
Administer and maintain servers, both physical and virtual, including operating system installations, updates, and patches.
Manage storage systems, data backups, and disaster recovery solutions.
Implement and manage virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Monitor and optimize virtualized environments.
6. Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Monitor system performance and respond to incidents and outages.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
7. Documentation:
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
8. Collaboration and Support:
Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to support their technology needs.
Provide technical support to end-users and resolve IT-related issues.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
Should have professional enterprise IT certifications such as in Microsoft Fundamentals, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or related areas
Experience in IT infrastructure design and management.
Proficiency with operating systems (e.g., Linux), server hardware, and network technologies.
Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work in a team and independently.
