Kiran & Musonda Associates, a firm of consulting engineers is looking for a talented and passionate Assistant Resident Engineer to join its team. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing piling, bridge, road and other civil engineering works.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Resident Engineer, the assistant resident engineer will be responsible for:
- Overseeing and managing all aspects of bridge and road works;
- Overseeing construction materials sourcing, investigations, testing and approvals;
- Coordinating with the design team to ensure adherence to project specifications;
- Supervising the civil team and provide guidance and support as needed;
- managing construction activities on-site, ensuring that all aspects of the project align with the approved drawings and specifications;
- Monitoring and reviewing the technical submittals and approval process;
- Monitoring and evaluating project progress, identifying and addressing any issues or delays;
- Preparation of reports, documentation, and project updates for the resident Engineer;
- Assisting the resident Engineer with verification of measurements, preparation and issuance of Interim Payment Certificates; and
- Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications/skills
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate;
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related;
- Valid EIZ/EngRB practicing license;
- Valid Driver’s license;
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in bridge/road construction works;
- Must have experience in soil, geotechnical and materials testing both in the laboratory and in the field, especially related to bridge construction;
- Must be familiar with FIDIC and/or other internationally recognized forms of Contract procedures and administration;
- Effective written, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required;
- Ready to work in the rural parts of Zambia;
- Must be ready to start immediately;
