The Company Seeks the Services of Senior Ventilation Officer x1

Job Purpose
The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:

• Planning and designing short, medium and long-term ventilation and firefighting systems.
• Drafting ventilation and fan layouts to meet Standard Ventilation Best Practice.
• Supervising installations and maintenance of ventilation systems.
• Ensuring compressed air and water pressures are 500 and 200 KPA respectively.
• Reducing intake temperatures in workplaces to conducive satisfaction levels.
• Regularly monitor and analyse air quality data, including gas concentrations, temperature, humidity, and airflow, to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Carrying out periodical pressure surveys of the underground ventilation system and analyse the results to enhance ventilation planning and perfection of the system.
• Participating in the development and implementation of emergency ventilation plans and procedures for use in the event of mine emergencies, such as fires or gas leaks.
• Ensuring reports are comprehensive and appropriate recommendations are made to address hazards and improve conditions.
• Maintaining accurate records of ventilation system performance, air quality data and maintaining activities.
• Maintain schedules to ensure all work areas and stations are inspected and assessed in accordance with Mining Regulations and Mopani Copper Mines Procedures and Standards.
• Enforcing statutory Mining Regulations and domestic rules in order to provide a safe working environment.
• Adhering to all other assignments that are lawful and fair.

To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Diploma in Mine Ventilation.
• Knowledge of Mining Regulations of Zambia in relation to mine ventilation.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
• Member of EIZ/ ERB.
• VentSim software application is a plus.

The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives.
