Job description:
Purpose
The role is focused on managing the Concentrator’s operations to ensure safety and efficiency across all processes.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance: Strict adherence to all relevant safety, health, environmental, quality, finance, and human resources regulations and policies.
Operational Efficiency: Adjust parameters in Crushing, Milling, and Flotation units for optimal efficiency. Monitor and control process equipment to meet or exceed targets.
Equipment Monitoring: Use Process Logic Control (PLC) and Display Control Systems (DCS) for equipment operation, with an understanding of SCADA systems and EXPART Control System for process interlocks and operations.
Communication and Reporting: Maintain effective communication with Process Operators and the Shift Supervisor to ensure smooth operation. Monitor key performance indicators like flotation assays, milling, and crusher rates, advising on deviations to maintain quality control and meet targets.
Documentation and Troubleshooting: Document operational changes and compile shift reports. Understand mechanical performance of process equipment, engage in troubleshooting, and coordinate with the maintenance team for equipment repairs.
Team Engagement: Participate in departmental activities, training sessions, and safety initiatives as required.
Qualifications
Educational Background: Grade 12 certificate with credits in English, Mathematics, and Science. A degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering is required, along with membership in the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a process plant environment, with knowledge of PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems being an added advantage.
Behavioural Traits
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and maintain safety awareness.
Proactive and able to work under pressure with good attendance.
Effective communication skills are essential.
Operational Requirements
Proficiency in computer use and an understanding of control system software.
Availability for standby duties, including working long hours.
Skills in troubleshooting process/mechanical equipment are necessary.
