Billiam works limited is a privately held company based on the copperbelt and specialized in maintenance and repair, as well as the supply of a wide range of spare parts for heavy machinery such as; Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, Sinotruck, Hyndai, Shantui, Liugong Spare etc.
About the role:
Bilam works limited is seeking an experienced individual to fill the role of Maintenance Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the maintenance and repair activities of the company. This individual will ensure that the equipment, machinery, and infrastructure are well-maintained to minimize downtime and optimize operational efficiency. Additionally, manage a team of maintenance personnel, develop maintenance schedules, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning and Inspection:
- Develop and implement maintenance programs, schedules, and procedures to ensure the reliability and longevity of equipment and facilities.
- Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and reduce the risk of equipment failures.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
- Coordinate and perform repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks as necessary.
Team Management and Budget Management:
- Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and support staff.
- Assign tasks, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
- Monitor expenses, negotiate contracts with vendors, and seek cost-saving opportunities.
Inventory Management and Reporting
- Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance activities.
- Ensure that the team has access to the necessary resources to perform their duties.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Generate reports on maintenance performance, equipment status, and budget utilization.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Develop and enforce safety procedures, conducting regular safety training for maintenance personnel.
Requirements
- At least 4 years+ proven work experience as a maintenance manager
- A Degree/Diploma in Engineering or Heavy equipment repair
- Knowledge and experience of managing and handling heavy duty Equipment.
- Member of EIZ
- Qualified Technician with proven experience in working with various heavy duty equipment
- Good leadership and management skills.
- Self-motivated and able to thrive in any environment.
- Effective Time Management
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
