Working in Zambia since 1996, Plan International Zambia’s development and humanitarian programmes focus primarily on Inclusive Quality Education, Skills and Opportunities for Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Early Childhood Development and Gender Responsive Child Protection. Child protection is key in all that we do. Plan International Zambia has Programme Areas (PAs) in; Central, Luapula, and Eastern Provinces including in Lusaka, where the Country Office is located.

Position Description:
The Temporal Driver is responsible for providing logistical support to Luapula Program Area and Team and other Program staff to enable effective implementation of Project activities.
The incumbent will be reporting to the Logistics and Procurement Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for collection and delivery of Plan documents and materials as well as any other messenger duties to enable the smooth flow of work.
- Provide driving support to the organization, while adhering to standard driving regulations and obeying the traffic law as per the schedule and with punctuality.
- Transporting of Project staff and materials to the field and other places to ensure the smooth flow of operations and ensuring safety of staff and at the same time reducing the number of breakdowns.
- Responsible for vehicle management and maintenance of the vehicle log book as per the set instructions.
- Ensure vehicles are clean and well equipped with the necessary tools in collaboration with the fleet management responsible staff
- Undertake daily vehicle checking every morning and reporting to the fleet management responsible person
- Checking and following up the vehicle service and maintenance schedule and processing the request collecting the vehicle upon completion of the work.
- Provide information to the fleet management responsible in case of accidents/ incidents and having vehicles technically inspected annually.
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding Children and Young People, Gender Equality and Inclusion policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
- Promotes and abides by internal policies and procedures including but not limited to: Child
- Protection Policy; Code of Conduct; mandatory reporting responsibility.
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Valid and clean Driver’s license at least class C
- Motor vehicle mechanic certificate or equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years driving experience in similar role
Competencies:
- Understanding of vehicle management and maintenance
- Understanding of road rules and regulations
- Good understanding of basic vehicle operations
- Supports learning, sharing and knowledge management
- Basic understanding of policies, strategies, programs and priorities related to gender inclusion
- Plan work, anticipate risks, and set goals within area of responsibility
- Problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
