Job Description
OPERATOR – DRILLING MACHINE
Job Purpose
To operate mobile drilling machine in order to drill blast holes as required.
Main Duties
Operates mobile drilling machine to drill blast holes vertically in open cast mine:
Marks hole locations and boundaries of cut on ribs and face, using chalk.
Trams and controls the drilling machine to drilling position.
Repositions machine to the drilling position
Drills additional holes in specified pattern.
Observes various hazards and secures the drilling machine in a safe position.
May drill blast at various angles as need may rise.
Qualifications and Experience:
Grade 9 or 12 School Certificate
Blast hole Drillers’ Certification.
Valid Blasting License certificate
Valid First aid certificate
Ability to operate DM 30ii Machine a must
Minimum 5 years work experience in open cast mining/relevant field
