Position Description

This position reports to the Drilling Coordinator. Successful candidate will be responsible for the below duties.

Responsibilities

• Cost-efficient use of all drilling consumables i.e. drills bits, drill rods, hammers.
• Stick to the plan and report any variation to the Drilling Coordinator.
• Ensure all production/fleet sheets are entered correctly and get to dispatch on time.
• Maximize compliance with operational plans by ensuring that all activities under the coordinator’s control are carried out in accordance with the operation plans.
• Ensure the efficient operation of drilling fleet by monitoring key performance measures and sustaining a continuous improvement process.
• Correct/ diligent use of Supervisor Checklist book.
• Actively promote, monitor, and participate in safe working practices.
• Identify risks in the work area and use of correct controls
• Monitor availability and utilization of the drilling equipment.
• Liaise with Construction personnel to ensure that well platforms are constructed to specifications, in a time and cost-effective manner.
• Liaises with subsurface geology and production teams.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

• Grade 12 certificate
• Diploma in Mining engineering or equivalent
• Five (5) years’ experience in the open pit mining industry in the drilling section.
• Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, power point presentations and spreadsheet applications.
• Must have sound Knowledge of safe working procedures and mine. operations.
• Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
