JOB ADVERTISEMENT – PROGRAMMES OFFICER
Radio Mano Community Station is a Media institution based in Kasama, Northern Province which is Registered under the registrar of Societies on Registration Number ORS/102/14/117.It is a Community Radio Station which is fully supported by the Community thereby making it a Non-Profit making organization.
The station seeks to employ a qualified Programmes Officer to spearhead the Programmes Department.
This is a four-year contract with a possibility of extension depending on the performance.
Overall Purpose of the Job
The Programmes Officer will be responsible for the Programs functions of Radio Mano.
Responsibilities
ü Managing the broadcast schedule, including deciding when and how often specific shows or segments will air.
ü Overseeing the technical aspects of broadcasting, including equipment and troubleshooting.
ü Keeping up with current events and trends to incorporate relevant content into programs.
ü Monitoring radio to make sure that all programmes and adverts be it sponsored or not are aired and on time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a full Grade Twelve Certificate.
Diploma in Broadcasting, Journalism and Radio Production. Degree in Journalism will be an added advantage.
Paid up member of Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA).
Computer Literate, proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
At least three years of Journalism and radio production and administrative experience.
Team player with excellent communication skills.
SKILLS & COMPETENCES
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Good understanding of standard operating procedures for broadcasting.
Skills in audio editing, recording, and mixing is often necessary.
Team player with excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to come up with innovative program ideas and formats to attract and retain listeners.
Ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure.
