Willowton Oil Zambia Limited is inviting applications from suitable qualified Mechanical Fitters, Instrumentation Technicians, and Truck Mechanics.

1. Mechanical Fitter 

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experience Mechanical fitter to join our team at our soybean oil, refinery and soap making plant.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, conveyors and other machinery critical to our production processes.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct routine maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, providing effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure all machinery meets safety and operational standards.
  • Participate in equipment installation and commissioning projects.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Monitor and report on the condition of equipment and recommend replacement or upgrades when necessary.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to production.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest process enhancements.

Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 certificate, technical certification or relevant trade school diploma preferably.
  • Proven 4 years plus experience as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial or refinery setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery used in a refinery.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to use a wide range of hand and power tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work on a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Understanding of environmental and regulatory compliance in an industrial setting.

2. Truck Mechanic

Job Description: 

As a Truck Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and reparing our fleet of trucs to ensure their are safe and efficient in operation. Your expertise will contribute to our commitment to delivering high-quality service to our
customers.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in trucks and other commercial vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes and other vehicle systems.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Efficiently complete repairs to minimize downtime and ensure vehicles are roadworthy.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and inspections.
  • Order and manage inventory of parts and materials.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and team members to share knowledge and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Participate in preventive maintenance programs to extend the life of our fleet.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacement.

Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 certificate, technical training or certification in automotive or diesel mechanics preferably.
  • Proven 4 years plus experience as a Truck Mechanic with expertise in commercial vehicle repair.

Other skills:

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Understanding of environmental and regulatory compliance in truck maintenance.

3. Instrumentation Technician.

The position reports to the Maintenace supervisor. A saucerful candidate will be responsible for installation, repairing, maintaining and commissioning instrumentation and control system of the plant.

Key Responsibilities.

  • should be able to work in shifts.
  • should be able to develop and execute preventative Maintenace programs according to the work schedule.
  • Troubleshooting instrumentation equipment faults following the standards maintenance procedures
  • Responsible for housekeeping around the work area.

Requirements.

  • Grade 12 certificate, advanced technician certificate in instrumentation or equivalent.
  • Proven 4 years plus experience as an Instrumentation Technician.
