Job Purpose
The expediter/Buyer will synchronize and facilitate the flow of work and materials between and within a company’s departments. Examine production and assign work to ensure compliance with production plans. Be the point of contact on behalf of the client, to the local suppliers and vendors, within the Copperbelt and Northwestern provinces. Take the lead in contacting vendors, place orders, verify supplies, manage supply requisition and communicate with suppliers to determine expected delivery dates and inform Project Managers of potential delays. Expeditor will strategize and oversee activities related to receiving and dispatching shipments such as confirming accuracy of orders and generate reports on work progress, completion dates, production challenges, stock levels and costs.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor aspects of processes such as purchasing, cost management and order changing, and forward issues to management
- Maintain production schedules for ongoing projects, assign materials and Crew Members to reduce cost, boost productivity and prevent delays that can affect delivery.
- Ensure interdepartmental communication for improved coordination of productive operations.
- Support and execute the operational and tactical procurement of goods in accordance with the agreed Procurement strategies, as well as applicable policies, procedures and specifications.
- Facilitating flow of materials between various departments and parties.
- Examining job cost reports for inconsistencies, such as mischarges.
- Ensuring cleanliness and tidiness of warehouse.
- Meeting and collaborating with management to assess reliability of suppliers and vendors, and to identify solutions for ongoing problems.
- Performing clerical duties, and maintaining accurate records and files of activities.
- Following established guidelines, instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborating with project management to prepare for project review meetings.
- Liaising with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Receiving shipments of materials, and examining deliveries to ensure accurate quantities, quality, and specifications
- Drive the realization of savings, supply efficiency including improving delivery lead-times, quality, and process improvements to ensure maximum supply chain benefits
- Create local Purchase orders for general supplies, equipment and consumables within authorized signature limits
- Support the mine on Projects and other Initiatives as initiated
- Monitor project delivery timelines, check work quality against company requirements and specifications and ensure compliance with regulations
- Collaborate with Project Managers for updates on delivery timelines
- Compile, record and report project performance and progress to management and key stakeholders.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Procurement/Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or Engineering
- Must have a minimum of 4 – 6 years of Procurement experience at Management Level in a Mine or Transport and Logistics Company
- Must have a CIPS Qualification.
- Proven vast experience in sourcing, operations and Logistics with
exposure to supply chain management, strategic sourcing and optimal
procurement processes and standards. - Demonstrated performance in
working within cross-functional teams, with requisite drive and energy
to ensure that a challenging benefits and capability building agenda is
successfully delivered. - Proficiency in spreadsheet software, inventory management tools and accounting applications
- Proficient understanding of materials and services procurement.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated analytical
- Must have valid ZIPS/CIPS membership
