ORYX Energies S.A “OESA” is one of Africa’s largest and longest established independent providers of oil and gas products and services. In pursuit of its business strategies in Zambia, the company invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the vacant position Retail Sales Executive, to join its team at ORYX Energies Zambia Ltd “OEZL”, based on the Copperbelt and Lusaka.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Retail Sales Manager.
The Retail Sales Executive – North will be based in Ndola.

Main Responsibilities:

To maximize:

1. Responsible for day-to-day operations of all service stations in the North i.e., station image stock positions, scheduling of orders, training of service station attendants and Supervisors.

(a) Develop structured and consistent approaches to enhance the Oryx Stations image and brand

(b)Monitor stock positions and ensuring timely scheduling of orders c. Ensure consistent delivery of excellent customer value proposition by regularly training the station attendants and supervisors on customer service.

2. Ensure that volume targets are met in ALL stations on ALL products.

3. You will also be responsible for all controllable expenses and inventory (stock losses) in Northern stations in order to minimize waste and pilferage in the company run stations.

5. People:

(a). Participate in attraction and selection of the right Dealers / Operators / Partners

(b). Identify gaps in Dealer competencies and delivery of operational excellence. Coach, support and advise Dealers with the aid of appropriate tools

(c). Monitoring Dealers with regards to stock outs and ensuring no room for dumping of products at the dealer run stations through monthly dip meter analysis.

(d). Ensuring that the Dealer trains and develops their staff, and understands the importance of excellence in execution through People in delivering exceptional service e. Monitor any technical teams assigned to do maintenance works at the stations and raise alarm when need for maintenance arises.

6. Shareholder:

(a). Setting CR & NFR Plans to deliver sales and profitability targets represented in monthly targets.

(b). Review Dealer/Operator performance and support them to develop action plans to close any performance gaps

7. HSSEQ: Develop and maintain a strong HSSE culture

8. Custodian of Food safety with a strict discipline to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point policies (HACCP)

9. Support Network plans and development of Convenience Retailing & Non-Fuel Revenue offers

10. On going support of Marketing initiatives.

  • Development of local capabilities
  • Expand and grow stores
  • Contracts management
  • Cr/ NFR profitability
  • Opex/cost management
  • Leverages the internal and external resources required to deliver the country’s agreed CR and NFR plan be it in terms of new shops to be built, formats to be delivered and in delivering the planned bottom-line results.
  • Providing and fast-tracking sign off Dealer/Partners contracts, detailing agreed scope of work and commercial terms
  • Finding, assessing, designing, and developing new and existing locations/sites
  • Approves ranging, assortments and planograms and new store layouts and merchandising
  • Ensure an effective supply chain strategy and troubleshoot supply chain challenges
  • Identifies, selects, negotiate with, and appoints key partners and form strategic alliances with them to propel our CR and NFR business growth
  • In close collaboration with Marketing, develop and implement tactical marketing plans and promotional campaigns that delivers customer value and supplier income in line with the agreed B2C strategic framework.
  • Get the buy-in and support of the local B2C team to deliver the CR & NFR plans Escalate to the B2C Manager and MD any bottlenecks or challenges faced that hinder the roll-out of the CR & NFR plans.

Experience & education required:
Experience & education required:

  • A Diploma or degree in Business, Economics or Engineering from a first line school, be fluent in English. Post-graduate qualification or MBA a plus.
  • 3 to 4 years of business management experience in the B2C/FMCG field with experience in shop formats, merchandising, range & category management, and supplier management.
  • Must have a Grade 12 School Certificate/GCE
  • Should possess high level of analytical, negotiation, communication, interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Must Computer literate and knowledgeable in usage of Microsoft office application packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher etc)
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to maximize business opportunities
  • Must be a team player
